Our Sick of Waiting report lays bare the inadequacies of Patient Transport. We're calling on NHS Trusts to set minimum standards of service in transport contracts.

(click here for an accessible version of the Sick of Waiting inforgraphics into patient transport in London)Patient transport is failing patients. we are calling on nhs trusts to set minimum standards in patient transport contracts to ensure that all patients receive a quality service. we surveyed 200 patients from across london about their experience of patient transport services to and from hospital appointments. 57% of patient transport users were not informed of patient transport when they booked their appointment. 90% of patient transport users were not informed of the healthcare travel costs scheme (htcs) when they booked their appointment. 49% of patient transport users have had to wait over 2 hours for patient transport after an appointment. 47% of patient transport users have been late for an appointment due to patient transport problems. 37% of patient transport users have missed an appointment due to patient transport. 19% of patient transport users have no financial penalties when patient transport providers breach the minimum standards of their contract. 82% of patient transport users have no patient transport user group. £126 is the estimated cost to the nhs for every missed appointment.
