The Deputy Mayor of London for Transport, Seb Dance, has written to us to set out a number of improvements to the Dial-a-Ride service, following our joint campaigning work with AgeUK London.
Among the improvements are:
- Recruiting additional drivers to increase service levels
- Restoring operating hours to Midnight (as they were pre-pandemic)
- Introducing a new booking system
The announcement follows our campaigning work. Last Summer we published our report into the experiences of disabled and older Dial-a-Ride users, after which we led a group of 8 of our research participants to go straight to London’s City Hall – home to the London Assembly – and speak directly to the decision-makers in charge of Dial-a-Ride to share their personal experiences and lobby for change.
We welcome these improvements and will be working closely with our members and research participants to monitor and track progress, to ensure the changes have impact.
