Join us at our virtual Biennial General Meeting

Transport for All’s members are invited to our virtual Biennial General Meeting (BGM) taking place on Wednesday 18th May 2022, at 6 – 7.30pm on Zoom.

Attendance at the BGM is open to all Transport for All members.  Not a member yet?  Sign up before you register for the BGM!

“Our BGM is an important event for you, as a member of our community, to meet with other people and to vote on the direction of the charity, celebrate our achievements and discuss future challenges. I really do hope you can come and join us.”

Caroline Stickland, CEO, Transport for All

Let’s celebrate

This year our BGM will be a chance for our members to celebrate Transport for All’s campaign win to increase the accessibility of the Elizabeth Line. We’re pleased to welcome Mark Wild, CEO of Crossrail as our guest speaker at the BGM.  Mark will give a short presentation about the new Elizabeth Line and the role of disabled campaigners in making the line accessible, and will answer questions from members.  You can submit your questions for Mark when you register for the BGM.

Crossrail, a brand-new railway line built from scratch, costing an estimated £15 billion of public money, was not initially planned to be fully accessible.   Through a sustained campaign of lobbying, protests and harnessing the power of the media, Transport for All and local Transport Action Groups forced a U-turn.

The big win came in October 2014, when Crossrail gave the assurance that every station would be step-free. A proud moment for all those who took part in the campaign and one that will go down in the history books.  Join us on 18th May to hear from Mark Wild, Crossrail CEO, on the impact made by everyone who campaigned for access.

Looking back

The direct and indirect impact of the pandemic during 2020 and 2021 has been, and continues to be, devastating for many disabled and older people – our lives have changed in numerous and significant ways.

In the two years since our last BGM in February 2020, we are proud of the work we’ve done to:

  • Support the transport sector with expert guidance on disabled people’s needs
  • Plan for the changing transport needs of disabled people post-COVID-19
  • Keep a watchful eye on transport initiatives and emergency measures and their potential impact
  • Advise individuals on their rights and accessible travel options
  • Encourage our members to keep in contact to support wellbeing and digital connectivity.

Read more about what we’ve been up to since the last BGM in our impact report.

Looking forward

We want to ensure that the ‘new normal’ is designed and built in a fully accessible and inclusive way, and that any future changes don’t increase the current gaps in transport and travel options that disabled and older people face.

Come along to the BGM to find out more about what our plans are for the future!  Remember to sign up first if you’re not already a Transport for All member – becoming a member is free, and open to all.

Or you can ring us to register on: 020 7737 2339 or email:

We very much hope to see you at our BGM.
