Losing property on London transport can be very frustrating. Getting that property back can be even more so.
Below are a few numbers and websites that can help you retrieve your things as quickly as possible.
Losing your Freedom Pass
If you do lose your Freedom Pass don’t
fret.
If you are have no luck in retrieving it from the TfL’s Lost Property Office (details below), just call 0845 275 7054 or 020 7934
9633 and let them know. They will need:
• Your name and address
• Your date of birth
• Your daytime telephone number
You are allowed one free renewal in any 12 month period, if you have to apply for a third time in 12 months you may be charged.
If
you live in Camden, Sutton or Barking & Dagenham, it will be better
for you to contact the concessionary travel department directly.

Losing your Taxicard
If
you need a new Taxicard because you couldn’t retrieve it from TfL’s Lost Property Office (details below) then email London Councils Taxicard or call them on 020 7934 9791.
If Taxicard has a spare photograph of you on file, your new
card will be posted to you on the next working day.
If there is not a spare photograph, you will be asked to
send one in. They cannot issue a new card without a photograph.
If you live
in Camden you be will charged £10 to replace the lost card. Please call
Camden Council directly on 020 7974 6435.

Losing your Blue Badge
If
you lose your blue badge, contact the issuing council as soon as you
can.
Some London Boroughs ask for a lost property reference number from
the Police which you can get by calling 0300 123 1212 and asking for the
telephone investigations unit.
It’s best to call your council first to
find out what their policy is.
General lost property
Bus
Contact your local bus garage as soon as possible, you can find out the station corresponding to the bus route you took here: http://www.londonbusroutes.net/garages.htm
Lost property only remains at bus garages for a few days, and then it is transported to TfL’s Lost Property Office (details below).
Underground
If you lose something on the Underground or in a tube station your best bet is to go back to the station that you came out from. Go to either the ticket stalls or control room and let them know what you have lost and when. If they don’t have it may have made its way to the TfL’s Lost Property Office.
Train
If you were using Overground run by TfL then the plan of action is the same as if you were on the Underground.
If you were using a private train company, you need to call their customer services.

Docklands Light Rail
If you lose something on the DLR or at one of their stations it will be taken to the Security Hut at Poplar Station.
You can call them 24 hours a day on 020 7363 9550. After 48 hours your property will be taken to the TfL’s Lost Property Office (details below).
Tramlink
If you lose something on the Croydon Tramlink try contacting the Tramlink Offices, Monday to Friday between 9am-5pm on 020 8681 8300 or go in and speak to them at Unit 5, Suffolk House, George Street, Croydon CR0 1PE. They will hold your property for 28 days after that it will donated or disposed of.
Remember to give a detailed description of your property if you can.
Contacting the Lost Property Office
Your
property will be held at the local bus, train or tube station only for a
few days. Afterwards it will make a trip to the Lost Property
Office. To retrive your property after this time you should:
• Call 0845 330 9882 between 8.30am and 4pm, Monday to Friday (except Bank Holidays)
• Fill in the online enquiry form at https://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/contact/lostproperty/default.aspx
• Fax 020 7918 1028
• Write to, or visit, Lost Property Office, 200 Baker Street, London, NW1 5RZ
Remember to give a detailed description of your property if you can. The Lost Property Office donate or sell all property not claimed after three months.
