IMPORTANT – This is an old article. Please click here for more information about the Freedom Pass renewal 2016.
Freedom Pass renewal is now in full swing and you have until 31st March 2010 to renew your pass.
All current Freedom Passes will cease to work on 31 March 2010. This process began on 4 January and the application form is available online and in Post Offices. It is a new form – which is the same as is used for new applications.
- your new style pass will be valid for five years and can be used as soon as you receive it
- for additional security, your new pass will include a photograph of you on the card itself rather than on a separate photocard, so you will need to produce a passport-style photograph of yourself before you apply. More about the photo
- your new card will usually take 10 working days to arrive and will be sent to you in the post. If you don’t receive your pass within 10 working days be assured that it is on its way. You can use your current pass until 31 March, but as soon as you receive the new one, you can use it and destroy the old one.
