Veterans Oyster photocard

The Veterans Oyster photocard entitles Londoners to free travel on all TfL services and some national rail services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It also allows holders free travel outside of morning peak hours on other national rail services in the capital.

IMPORTANT (Update May 2017) – Most Veterans Oyster photocards are due to expire in May. If you are still at the same address, you don’t need to do anything as the Card will be renewed automatically. (There is an exception for a very small number of people; if you are one of these, you will be sent a letter explaining what you have to do.) If you have moved to a new address, please contact Transport for London on 0343 222 1234, option 1.

Eligibility:

The Veterans Oyster photocard allows you to travel free on public transport in London. To be eligible for this photocard, you must:

They will not issue a Veterans Oyster photocard if you live in London and are eligible for a 60+ London Oyster photocard or a Freedom Pass.

Also, ongoing payments are awarded to service personnel who have sustained a certain level of physical or psychological injury in the line of duty. If you received a one-off gratuity payment instead of ongoing payments, then you’re not eligible for a Veterans Oyster photocard.

Application:

To apply for The Veterans Oyster photocard, please call TFL on 0343 222 1234 (press option 1 and then option 1) and an application form will be sent to you.

To apply you’ll need:

Lost/stolen Freedom Pass

If your Veterans Oyster photocard is lost, stolen or damaged, you can report it online. Once reported, TFL will cancel the old one and send you a replacement. There is a £10 admin fee for a replacement. If you are having difficulty repoting it online, please call TFL on 0343 222 1234 (press option 1 and then option 1).
